his lovely sixteenth century country house is set upon the banks of the picturesque river Wye and surrounded by some of Britain's finest countryside.

When in 1867, the house was owned by literary agent John Foster Charles Dickens stayed at the Castle Lodge for two weeks discussing the detailed plans for his celebrated trip to America whilst few literary giants are visitors today, we hope that your stay with us will give you something to write home about.

The lush meadows of Herefordshire provide the finest beef in all of England and our cuisine features all that the locality has to offer and more.

Freshly caught Wye salmon, succulent lamb from the hillsides of Wales traditionally prepared and stylishly served in one of our two restaurants.

Enjoy a candle lit supper with a fine bottle of wine after memorable day wandering the quiet byways of these rural borderlands. Sip a nightcap idly planning the next days adventure as Dickens himself must have done.

Built next to Wilton Castle which saw Roundhead and Cavalier fortunes ebb and flow, history and tradition blend with modern day comforts at the family run Castle Lodge.

All our tastefully decorated rooms have full en suite facilities, with central heating, direct dial telephones, colour TV and private bathrooms. We can also provide all the help you need to organize anything from a successful business meeting to a memorable family occasion

At whatever time of year you choose to visit, there is always plenty to see and do. The walker and the birdwatcher are just at home as those wishing to pursue less energetic pastimes. There is always a quiet new corner to discover and whatever the weather your welcome at Castle Lodge is never in doubt.
