Wilton Castle
A brief history:
Wilton Castle is a Norman earthwork motte and bailey fortress, founded by Hugo de Longchamp.

In the 14th century, Roger de Grey founded the stone castle, when adding a rectangular keep and a twin-towered gatehouse, to a curtain wall flanked by octagonal and round towers.

In the 16th century, Charles Brydges built an Elizabethan mansion on the site of the keep and gatehouse but this was attacked and burnt during the Civil War.

In the 19th century, part of the ruined mansion were rebuilt and is still inhabited.
